Governor Kitzhaber orders flags at half-staff in memory of Oregon soldier

Flags to be lowered Wednesday, September 5, 2012, in honor of United States Army Specialist Mabry Anders 
(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber today ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, in honor of Specialist Mabry Anders.

“SPC Anders was among the best of Oregon serving both his state and nation,” said Governor Kitzhaber. “His death is tragic and he will be missed by many in his community, but his legacy of service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

SPC Anders, 21, of Baker City, Oregon, died August 27th, in Kalagush, Afghanistan of injuries suffered from enemy, small arms fire. He was assigned to the 4th Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
