Good afternoon. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of dedicating charging stations around the state, including stations at Fred Meyer in Northeast Portland and at the Rose Garden Arena.
Dedicating chargers here at the Oregon State Capitol is a particularly special event. By opening these charging stations in Salem, the State of Oregon is providing an economical and energy-efficient option for Oregonians visiting their Capitol. Opening up new ways to access state government is good for everyone in Oregon.
My 10-Year Energy Action Plan calls for a comprehensive alternative fuels program, and this is one more step in the right direction. We knew when working on the plan that innovation and creativity would be required to meet our goals, and that’s certainly true of these stations.
A lot of dedicated people – many of whom are here today – put their heads together to find the initiative and the funding to get the job done, and my thanks go out to everyone who made this possible. The great work of the Energizing Oregon Coalition will be appreciated with each and every plug-in here at the Capitol.
Over the past two-and-a-half years, I have focused on getting Oregonians back to work and rebuilding Oregon’s economy. By providing citizens and businesses new and better options to move people and goods across the Northwest, we are helping to boost economic prosperity, improve public health, and reduce emissions.
Thank you again for working together to help us move Oregon’s clean economy forward and drive innovation in Oregon.
