Job Creation in Southern and Eastern Oregon to be Focus of New Community Solutions Team
(Salem) - Governor Kitzhaber today announced the appointments of Scott Fairley and Jeff Griffin as Regional Solutions Coordinators to seize job creation opportunities and solve problems that stand in the way of economic development in southern and eastern Oregon.
Mr. Fairley will coordinate a Regional Solutions Center in Eastern Oregon. Mr. Fairley has worked in the Eastern Region of the State for over 14 years and has experience working with community leaders and local officials to create economic opportunities for this region of the State.
Mr. Griffin will coordinate a Regional Solutions Center for Southwestern Oregon. Mr. Griffin has over twelve years of experience working with communities in the Southwest Oregon, using the community solutions model to support economic recovery efforts.
Regional Solutions Centers will co-locate state agency staff to complete community-based projects that address regional and community priorities identified by public, private and civic leaders in the region. The Eastern Oregon Solutions Center will be located at Eastern Oregon University and Southern Oregon University will house the Southern Oregon Solutions Center.
“These Solution Centers will focus on creating region specific economic and community solutions for each unique area of the state,” said Greg Wolf, the Governor’s Intergovernmental and Regional Solutions Director. “Mr. Fairley and Mr. Griffin’s experience, regional knowledge and problem solving skills will serve the Governor well in helping get Oregonians back to work.”
Additional Solution Centers will be located in the Willamette Valley, the Oregon Coast & Central Oregon.
