Governor Kitzhaber names Christine Miles as Press Secretary
(Salem) — Governor Kitzhaber today announced Christine Miles as his press secretary. She will join the governor’s communications team and will become the first point of contact for all media inquiries to governor’s office beginning March 1, 2011.
“As a seasoned spokeswoman for a city bureau and a statewide agency, the State of Oregon will benefit having someone with Christine’s expertise join our team,” said Governor Kitzhaber. Miles will report to Tim Raphael, Director of Communications.
Most recently, Miles has been the public information officer at the Portland Office of Emergency Management and previously, she served as spokesperson for the Oregon Department of Transportation for several years. She has worked with local and national media, and is also experienced with crisis communications.
She is actively involved in the community including serving on the board of Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division, and as a volunteer for the Hispanic Chamber, Oregon Women’s Health and Wellness Alliance, and the Brian Grant Foundation.
An award-winning journalist with 15 years experience in broadcast news covering local, national, and international stories, Miles holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Houston.
