Governor Kitzhaber Nominates Larry Niswender as Director of the Oregon Lottery
(Salem, Ore.) – Governor Kitzhaber today announced the submittal of Larry Niswender for appointment to direct the Oregon Lottery. The nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
“The Oregon Lottery is critical to funding programs that support education, economic development and natural resources. I know that Larry will continue to serve Oregonians by ensuring that the lottery is operated in an efficient and transparent manner,” said Governor Kitzhaber.
Niswender has been acting director since 2010, and has worked for the Oregon Lottery since 2005. Prior to the Lottery Mr. Niswender worked for the Legislative Fiscal Office, the non-partisan staff to the Legislature's budget-writing Ways and Means Committee.
“I look forward to working with Governor Kitzhaber, the Oregon Legislature, and the Oregon Lottery Commission to ensure the Oregon Lottery continues to responsibly provide a stable revenue source for state and local programs,” said Niswender.
A native Oregonian, Mr. Niswender received his Bachelors Degree at Eastern Oregon University and his Masters Degree at Western Oregon University.
