Governor Kitzhaber Selects Cameron Smith to be Military and Veteran Affairs Policy Advisor

(SALEM, Ore.)  — Governor Kitzhaber today announced the appointment of Cameron Smith as his Policy Advisor for Military and Veteran Affairs.

Most recently, Mr. Smith served as a senior policy advisor to former Governor Ted Kulongoski, where he oversaw public safety policy. In his last year with the administration, he also advised on military and veteran issues.

“It is an honor to join Governor Kitzhaber’s team and help further Oregon’s effort to support our military and veterans,” said Mr. Smith. “I am excited to build on our successes and ensure we continue to stand up for our military and veterans from all generations.”

Mr. Smith previously served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. He completed three tours in Iraq in 2004, 2006, and most recently in 2009. He is a graduate of Carleton College in Minnesota where he earned a B.A. in history.
