Governor appoints Steve Milla to Washington County Circuit Court
(SALEM, Ore.) — Governor Kitzhaber today announced the appointment of Steve G. Milla to fill the vacancy on the Washington County Circuit Court created by the appointment of Judge Marco Hernandez to the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He will start his new position on the court July 5, 2011.
“Steve Milla brings extensive civil practice experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants, and has also had experience as a criminal prosecutor,” Governor Kitzhaber said. “I am pleased to see him join the bench and am confident that he will be a great addition to the Washington County Circuit Court.”
Mr. Milla received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore in 1997. Mr. Milla has been in private practice representing individuals in civil and criminal matters with a focus on personal injury litigation since he re-located to Washington County in 2004. Prior to that, he worked as a prosecutor in the State’s Attorney’s Office for Montgomery County, Maryland, and represented Montgomery County in civil litigation involving government employees. Mr. Milla is a member of the Washington County Bar Association and the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association.
