Governor Kitzhaber statement in honor of Oregon soldier Private First Class Brice Scott


(SALEM, Ore.) — Governor Kitzhaber today issued the following statement regarding the death of Private First Class Brice Scott of Eugene, Oregon:
 
“I am deeply saddened by the death of Private First Class Brice Scott. He was a courageous soldier who willingly stood up to defend the values and freedoms we hold dear. His loss is a sober reminder of the burden our military continues to bear overseas. On behalf of all Oregonians, I offer my sincere condolences to his family, friends and fellow soldiers.”

Pfc. Scott, 22, died July 31 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit using small arms fire.  He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
