Governor Kitzhaber statement on President's memorandum for Secretary of the Interior
(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber’s statement on President Obama's Memorandum for Secretary of the Interior:
“I appreciate President Obama’s focus on maximizing flexibility and promoting economic growth in managing our public lands for long term environmental and economic success. The draft plan calls for more active timber management of federal lands, and the President’s memorandum makes clear economic analyses will be conducted before the plan is final. By working to integrate activities on state lands with federal lands, we can support wildlife recovery while also supporting timber harvest in Oregon.”
