Governor Kitzhaber signs remaining legislation into law


(Salem, OR) — Governor Kitzhaber today signed the remaining 22 bills of the 2012 Legislative session including budget reconciliation bills. In total, the Governor signed 112 bills from the Oregon Legislature’s first annual session. The Governor did not veto any bills.
“The Legislature's action on job creation, health care transformation, and education improvements, combined with the discipline to rebalance the budget, has laid the foundation for a more prosperous future for our state,” said Governor Kitzhaber. “The Legislature’s continued focus on problem-solving rather than partisanship is serving Oregonians well.”
The Governor highlighted a number of bills from the 2012 session key to Oregon’s jobs and prosperity agenda, including:   

  • HB 4165: Integrated & streamlined early childhood services
  • HB 4164: A health insurance marketplace for small businesses & consumers
  • SB 1580: Better health care at a lower cost
  • SB 1581: State and local accountability for education outcomes
  • HB 4040: Access to capital for Oregon businesses (Oregon Investment Act)
  • HB 4093: Local economic development with expanded enterprise zones
  • SB 1532: Certainty for new technology and data centers in Oregon
  • SB 1552: Foreclosure Protection for Oregon Homeowners
