Governor Kitzhaber signs Buy Oregon First bill
June 7, 2011
I made a commitment during my campaign to help Oregon’s economy become more resilient, and House Bill 3000 is an important step to helping us do that.
By allowing state procurement officials flexibility on cost when it comes to choosing Oregon products and services, we are opening the possibility for increased sales of the excellent products made in Oregon, which will help keep dollars right here and grow our economy.
And by fostering the internal development between companies within the state, Oregon can weave a resilient economic web that provides stability during recessionary periods, like the one we’ve been experiencing.
I want to thank Representatives Clem and Cannon for sponsoring this bill and thank everyone here for your efforts to pass it.
It is an important step for the state and for the companies that do business here.
