FAFSA Plus+

The Higher Education Coordinating Commission is committed to increasing Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion rates, so that all Oregonians can access college. FAFSA Plus+ is a year-round program led by the HECC Office of Student Access and Completion that includes FAFSA completion activities and support, financial literacy information, scholarship resources, award letter help, and other college access assistance to high school seniors across Oregon.

FAFSA Plus+ sites have access to current student-level FAFSA data, allowing staff and volunteers to provide targeted assistance to high school seniors and their families who are completing the FAFSA.

Why FAFSA Plus+?

While many factors are involved in the decision to attend college, a strong correlation exists between filing the FAFSA and college enrollment, persistence, and completion. FAFSA Plus+ began in 2014 as part of the national FAFSA Completion Initiative. Previously, high schools relied on aggregated federal data to estimate their FAFSA completion rate.

With FAFSA Plus+, schools and other agencies have the necessary data and tools to provide individual student support and assistance. Participating FAFSA Plus+ high schools experience an average FAFSA completion rate consistently above the statewide average.
