Portland, OR—The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the Oregon Health Authority invite the public to attend four Cleaner Air Oregon regional forums in September and early October. The schedule for the four forums:

Tues., September 13, 6-8pm at Jackson County Library, in Medford, Oregon
Tues., September 20, 6-8pm at Central Oregon Community College, Wile Hall in Bend, Oregon
Wed., September 28th, 6-8pm at Pendleton Convention Center in Pendleton, Oregon
Tues., Oct 4th, 6-8pm at Oregon Convention Center, Oregon Ballroom in Portland, Oregon

Public input from the four regional forums and a parallel on-line version of the program will be shared with the Cleaner Air Oregon Regulatory Advisory Committee. That advisory committee will meet from October through April 2017 and provide input into the drafting of new air toxics rules.

In April, Governor Kate Brown announced the launch of Cleaner Air Oregon, a new initiative to reform industrial air toxics regulations and align them with public health. DEQ and OHA have begun the formal rulemaking process to assemble the Cleaner Air Oregon Advisory Committee as part of the effort to engage the public in creating human health risk-based rules for industrial facilities, for consideration by the Environmental Quality Commission.
