Salem, OR—Today, the General Government Subcommittee of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means will hold a public hearing on House Bill 2191A. This bill enables the Office of the Secretary of State to shut down fraudulent corporations.

Secretary of State Dennis Richardson fully supports HB 2191A, a bill aimed at fighting financial crime in Oregon.The bill was drafted by a work group chaired by Representative Paul Holvey with input from Secretary of State Dennis Richardson, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, the Oregon State Bar, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses of Oregon.

“This bill does more than send a message, it gives Oregon state government some real authority to crack down on fraud and shady financial dealings within our state,” said Richardson. “I was happy to work with a collaborative group to draft a document that protects Oregon's business integrity and due process rights.”
