Scappoose, OR—The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a $66,049 civil penalty to DR Horton, Inc., - Portland for causing pollution to Fisher Pond Wetland, failing to implement proper sediment and erosion controls and failing to conduct visual monitoring. The violation occurred at the “Dutch Canyon Estates 3” residential development located in Columbia County, OR.

DEQ issued this penalty because the failure to implement stormwater erosion controls created sediment laden discharges from DR Horton's construction activities, which may negatively impact water quality, vegetation and wildlife habitat within the wetland.
