Salem, OR—Governor Kate Brown today appointed Patrick Allen as Acting Director of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). In a letter, Governor Brown directed Allen to operate the agency with a commitment to transparency, accountability, and the wise use of taxpayer dollars, and to evaluate all existing staff according to these standards.

“Pat is a key member of my health care cabinet and has led the state in a complex transition into the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange,” Governor Brown said. “I have asked Pat to bring his expertise to the Oregon Health Authority and lead the agency into a forward looking and responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.”

Patrick has been the director of the Department of Consumer & Business Services (DCBS) since 2011 and served in a variety of key leadership roles at DCBS before becoming the Director. Patrick also worked at Business Oregon and worked in banking for several years. As the DCBS Director, Patrick has been part of the Governor's health care cabinet for the last several years as he's overseen the state's health insurance market and the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange. Patrick has a B.S in Economics from Oregon State University.

Allen will begin at OHA on September 1, 2017. The Governor's Office will announce details about the recruitment process for a permanent director in September.
