Salem, OR—Governor Kate Brown ordered flags at all public institutions throughout Oregon to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Sept. 11 for Patriot Day.

"The unfathomable events of Sept. 11, 2001, were tragic and shook our nation to its core," Governor Brown said. "However, the resilience of Americans and faith in our nation's founding values gave way to a restored spirit of unity. In the face of new challenges, it is my hope we will again come together, as Oregonians and as Americans, to overcome our differences and work to build more inclusive communities where we all have the opportunity to fulfill our greatest potential."

In remembrance of those lost and to honor the first responders and families impacted by the events of Sept. 11, 2001, the White House has called for a national moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
