Portland, OR—The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined Owens-Brockway Glass Container Inc. $6,000 for failing to monitor stormwater for iron at its northeast Portland facility.

Under its DEQ stormwater permit, Owens-Brockway must monitor stormwater for iron and other pollutants to ensure it is complying with pollution levels allowed in its permit.

Industrial pollutants in stormwater can contaminate streams, rivers and other waterways and threaten the health of Oregon's people and environment.
