Portland, OR—The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined Pizza Blends Inc. $4,400 for failing to do all required monitoring for stormwater pollutants at its northeast Portland facility.

Pizza Blends makes flour blends for the pizza industry. Its stormwater discharges into the Columbia Slough near Hayden Island. Under its DEQ stormwater permit, the company must monitor stormwater for pollutants to ensure it is complying with pollution levels allowed in its permit.

Industrial pollutants in stormwater can contaminate streams, rivers and other waterways and threaten the health of Oregon's people and environment.
