DEGREE PROGRAMS APPROVED FOR LICENSURE
ACCREDITATION

NATIONAL ACCREDITING BODIES ACCEPTED BY THE BOARD OF COUNSELORS & THERAPISTS

  1. COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION FOR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY EDUCATION (COAMFTE) ACCREDITED (for LMFT)
  2. COUNCIL FOR ACCREDITATION OF COUNSELOR AND RELATED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS (CACREP) ACCREDITED (for LPC)
  3. COUNCIL ON REHABILITATION EDUCATION (CORE) ACCREDITED (for LPC): Two-year (72 quarter, 48 semester hours) masters program in rehabilitation counseling.

 

A Form 6A is not required for programs that have national accreditation.  The national accreditation must have been in effect at the time of applicant’s enrollment and graduation in the program.  Regionally accredited programs requires applicant to submit a Form 6A.

ONLINE PROGRAMS

The Board will accept graduate degrees from online programs if the online college or university was at least regionally accredited.  Please check the accrediting organizations' websites to see if your college or university is on their directories of approved colleges.
 
OREGON GRADUATE PROGRAMS APPROVED FOR LICENSURE
The following Oregon schools have counseling or marriage and family therapy graduate degree programs that meet the degree standards for licensure in Oregon. The list is subject to change.  Contact your college or university to find out from the school which programs and tracks have been approved and when they were approved. The graduate must have been enrolled in and completed the program at the time the program held approval status.
