Dwight Adkins, Public Member
|
Dwight Adkins, Public Member, Portland - Dwight Adkins has 20 years experience with volunteering and civic engagement through the Hands On movement. Early in his career he volunteered with Hands On Nashville, lead their annual day of caring and eventually served as a board member. Immediately after moving to Portland, Oregon thirteen years ago he got involved with Hands On Greater Portland as a volunteer, volunteer leader and board member. In 2007 Dwight joined the staff of Hands On Greater Portland as the assistant director and oversees the organizations fundraising and marketing efforts.
Dwight’s professional experience ranges from his role for seven years as the Corporate Relations Manager for Oregon Food Bank to membership director for the YMCA of Nashville. Dwight has continued honing his community skills first as an alumni of the Leadership Portland program and most recently the American Express Nonprofit Leadership Academy Leadership program facilitated by the Center for Creative Leadership.
Dwight volunteers with Basic Rights Oregon and serves on the advisory council for the Community Cycling Center. Dwight and his partner live in NW Portland.
Education - Dwight has a B.A. in Corporate Communications from Western Kentucky University, and a Sustainability Leadership Certificate from the University of Oregon.
