Students Currently Enrolled in a Speech & Language Pathology Master’s Degree Program

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) seeks to recruit students enrolled in Oregon’s Universities. Students completing a Master’s Degree program in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders and Sciences are encouraged to apply to the Speech-Language Pathology Scholarship Program. The program assists rural districts and Educational Service Districts (ESD) and Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Programs (EI/ECSE) acquire qualified Speech-Language Pathologists. Priority is given to candidates seeking employment in rural districts, ESDs and EI/ECSE programs.
 

Program Overview

  •  Participants then apply to a participating k-12 District/Educational Service District (ESD) or EI/ECSE Program;
  •  Upon hire and acceptance to the SLP Speech-Language Pathology Scholarship Program, the Participant and the District complete a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) with the Oregon Department of Education. This requires:
    • The Participant to work for a minimum of two years in a rural District/Program/ESD;
    • The participant receives a $10,000 scholarship in exchange for their service;
    • The District/ESD or EI/ECSE Program provides the Clinical Fellowship (CF) Supervision;
    • Participating District/ESD or EI/ECSE Program receives a $400 stipend from the Oregon Department of Education;
    • The Participant and the District CFY Supervisor are required to complete a brief survey annually regarding their participation in the program and submit it to ODE by April 30, of each year of participation.
