List of Approved Dyslexia Training Opportunities

List of Approved Dyslexia Trainings

How to use the list

OAR 581-002-1805 requires that training opportunities include content in the following three areas:

  1. Understanding and recognizing dyslexia;
  2. Using evidence-based practices to systematically and explicitly teach the foundational skills in reading; and
  3. Intensifying instruction to meet the needs of students with severe reading difficulties, including dyslexia.

Different vendors offer training opportunities that focus on one, two or all three of the above areas. The attached list includes the focus area(s) for each approved training opportunity. To meet the requirements, a teacher’s training must include all three of the content areas (OAR 581-022-2440). A teacher may choose to complete a comprehensive training offered by a single vendor or choose to complete trainings across vendors to collectively address all three areas. Training may be completed face-to-face, in an online format or through a combination of both. SB 612 requires that at least one training opportunity be offered completely online so please check the list regularly in the upcoming weeks for the addition of more approved online training opportunities.

The list provides additional information regarding each training opportunity such as the format, length of the training, cost, location, maximum number of participants, etc. Vendor contact information for each training opportunity is included on the list so districts can contact them directly to obtain more details and to schedule training dates.
