Education for Youth in the Justice System

 

The Department of Education is responsible for the education of youth in State and County Juvenile facilities. In addition, the Department assists local education agencies, county sheriffs and jail commanders to meet the local school districts obligation to provide educational services to school age youth, who are in county correctional facilities. The Department also insures that school age youth in correctional facilities are served according to Federal and State laws and regulations.
 
Oregon Youth Authority - OYA provides services to protect the public and reduce juvenile crime through OYA programs and partnerships with local communities and counties.
