During the January 2014 School Garden Summit in West Salem, it was suggested by a School Garden Coordinator that area school gardens would feel more connected and be able to get more support if they were a member of a local support group.
So, our first pilot regional school garden hub was formed in the Albany area. This pilot group has met approximately every other month, and has been able to do cross-visitations, tour other gardens in the State, and plan an upcoming "back to school" open house event at their gardens this Fall where they will invite the local media, as well as their School Board.
If your area is interested in forming a School Garden Hub, please contact Rick Sherman at firstname.lastname@example.org
. He would love to help you get started and plan your first meeting!
