On October 1, 2017, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) updated the CACFP meal patterns to reflect current guidance from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The new meal patterns reflect evidence-based nutrition science, strengthen the nutritional quality of the meals served, allow sponsors to serve more diverse and culturally appropriate foods, and address the dietary needs of participants. The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs (ODE CNP) has developed trainings and resources for the new meal pattern which are available here. Additional CACFP resources and links to help sponsors and providers meet meal pattern requirements and plan menus can also be found here.
