Oregon Department of Forestry's Incident Management Team 2, commanded by Bill Hunt, assumed command of the Doubleday Fire, at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008.

The Doubleday Fire, burned 1275 acres one and one-half miles south of Butte Falls, OR and 13 miles east of Eagle Point, OR in Jackson County. It was reported at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, near the junction of Salt Creek and Doubleday Roads; the sixth fire reported on ODF-protected lands in the Southwest Oregon District started by a lightning storm that moved through the area late Tuesday, September 16.

In the coming days, the Incident Management Team will be transitioning fire suppression and patrol responsibilities back to the department's Southwest Oregon District. On behalf of all the firefighters, support personnel and the team's retiring Incident Commander, Bill Hunt, Team 2 members would like to thank our partner agencies and organizations, the landowners involved, local residents, and the news media. Your cooperation, assistance, encouragement, and support during the Doubleday Fire was instrumental to our success.
