Public access to Lost Lake in SE Clatsop County
temporarily limited to Spruce Run Campground
Visitors to Lost Lake in southeast Clatsop County will need to access the lake from Henry Rierson Spruce Run Campground and not from Highway 26 – for about a month, beginning Jan. 28.
An active logging operation in the area has closed public access to Lost Lake from the summit of Highway 26 via Quartz Creek Road, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry. Re-opening of the road will be announced.
Lost Lake is still accessible from Henry Rierson Spruce Run Campground on Lower Nehalem Road. Motorists on this route, however, should use caution and be prepared to encounter light log truck traffic. Vehicles with CB radios should monitor channel 13.
For more information about the road closure and its re-opening, call Larry Sprouse at the ODF Astoria District office, (503) 325-5451.
