Smoke Management Advisory Committee to meet Aug. 3, Salem

WHAT – A five-member committee tasked with advising the Oregon Department of Forestry on the state's Smoke Management Plan will work through an agenda that includes:
-
Regional Haze Rule - Brian Finneran, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), will discuss the interface between prescribed forest burning and the haze rule.

Klamath Falls Attainment Plan - Finneran will discuss efforts currently underway to assist the city in meeting the Attainment Plan standards.

Smoke Management Plan review – The committee will discuss a timeline for the five-year Smoke Management Plan review. The current plan, adopted in 2008, will expire in 2013.
Public comments will be received at approximately 9:25 a.m.
WHO – By Oregon statute, the Smoke Management Advisory Committee includes representatives of industrial and non-industrial forest landowners, the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the general public.
WHEN – 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011
