Firewood Cutting
A panoramic view of the Tillamook State Forest
The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) allows firewood cutting (for a fee) on state forestlands managed by the following districts.
Contact the office for the region that you are interested in:
Astoria District (Clatsop State Forest)
Coos District (Coos Bay, managing the Elliott State Forest)
Forest Grove District (Washington county portion of the Tillamook State Forest)
North Cascade District (Lyons, east of Salem)
Tillamook District (Tillamook State Forest)
West Oregon District (Philomath)
Remember to check weather conditions prior to leaving home for mountain areas. Always tell a family member where you are going and when you expect to return. Go prepared by carrying rainwear, warm clothes, and extra food and water.
Firewood cutting also is permitted on other public forestlands. Contact the local regional offices for the U.S. Forest Service or the Bureau of Land Management for more information.
