Blue Mtn Western Larch Seed Orchard Cooperative - August 2011 AN IDEA TAKES SEED: Orchard is raising tamaracks
LA GRANDE - Jamie Knight is the first to admit the idea behind the Blue Mountain Western Larch Seed Orchard Cooperative isn't a new one. But she's quick to add that it's an idea new in eastern Oregon. Knight, a forester with the Oregon Department of Forestry, is leading a project that will yield the seeds timber producers need to grow Western Larch.
  • Forest landowners: Do you need a written plan?

This is a photo of a fire crew in the area of Wolf Creek on the Douglas Complex.Beginning September 1, a rule change affecting operations in and around riparian management areas will allow stewardship foresters to waive the current written plan requirement for harvest and road construction if the riparian management area will not be directly affected. Making this change will allow stewardship foresters to focus on operations that will be entering the riparian management area or have other high resource priorities.  To learn more about this rule change, contact your local Oregon Department of Forestry stewardship forester or download the PDF file on Written Plan Waiver Requirements.
