ORVET Home Loan is a Lifetime Benefit
|
|
Since 1946, the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs has helped more than 334,000 veterans realize their dreams of owning a home, loaning over $7.5 billion to veterans.
ODVA offers a state veterans home loan that is an additional and distinctively separate benefit from the Federal VA Home Loan Guaranty Program.
The current maximum loan amount for a single family, owner occupied residence is $417,000, or a veteran remaining eligibility amount if there has been a previous ODVA loan. The program is designed specifically to provide veterans the lowest interest rate possible and is secured through special federal bonding only available to state home loan programs.

Left Content Understanding Your Earned Benefits
The first step towards obtaining federal and state veteran benefits is to understand what benefits are available to you and your family that most veterans have earned.
Veteran Service Officers (VSO's) work with you to identify the benefits that you may be eligible for and assist you in filing federal claims. VSO's are accredited by the federal VA and certified by the state. They are available in most counties in Oregon and assist you at no cost.
To learn more about which benefits you may be eligible for, make an appointment with your local County VSO. |

Right Content The Oregon Veterans' Home: The Place Where Honor Lives
One of the many things that truly sets the Oregon Veterans' Home apart from other care communities is its residents. Opened in 1997, the Home is located on 15 acres in the historic Columbia Gorge city of The Dalles.
The Home's caring certified staff can care for up to 151 residents needing long-term skilled nursing care, including Alzheimer's and dementia-related care, in-patient and out-patient rehabilitative care to veterans, their spouses and parents who have lost a child who was serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
In 2012, US News & Word Reports rated the Home as one of Oregon's "Best Nursing Homes" -- a 5-Star facility. It's also earned a Step II Award for Quality Achievement -- one of only two state veterans' homes out of 170 to achieve this.

Veteran License Plates
Oregon veterans can order a distinct vehicle license plate to display their military service in through the Military Veteran Recognition License Plate Program. For $10 every two years, eligible veterans may obtain a variety of distinctive license plate with military insignia or blank veteran plate.
And a portion of the plate's fee helps support the Oregon Veterans' Home. Disabled veterans (DAV) receiving compensation may also apply for a one-time motor vehicle registration fee.
