Past Disasters

Oregon has disasters, small and large. These events have resulted in loss of homes and businesses, changes in the environment and increased mitigation efforts. Disaster response always starts at the local level, with city, county or tribal jurisdictions having the responsibility to respond to the needs in their communities. At the point that the damage has reached a severity level that the local jurisdictions cannot support, disaster declarations and requests for assistance come to the state.  Declarations can be made at the local, state or federal level. Visit FEMA’s disaster declaration page for information about disasters in Oregon that reached the federal level of assistance.
