The 2007 Legislature enacted law (ORS 244.255) that reorganized the funding of the Oregon Government Ethics Commission in response to the public's request to remove the agency from the General Fund and create a more stable funding source.

Advisory Opinion No. 16A-1003
This opinion addresses how ORS 244.047 applies for two years after a public official ceases holding or being employed in a position as a public official. That public official may not have a direct beneficial financial interest in a public contract when one of the parties to the contract is the public official's former public body if the contract was authorized by the former public official while acting in the capacity previously held as a public official.
