Federal updates

Medicaid in the news

January 19, 2018 - What possible federal shut-down means for you
At this time, Oregon has resources to continue all federally funded health programs. Oregonians should continue to access the Oregon Health Plan, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other benefits.

January 17, 2018 - Medicaid work requirements

Oregon’s priority is to continue to expand health coverage and reduce the uninsured rate in our state. When people have access to quality health care, they are better able to earn a living wage, support a thriving family and contribute to their communities.

We do not anticipate placing work requirements on Oregon Health Plan members. Oregon’s Medicaid program currently provides vital health coverage to more than 1 in 4 Oregonians, including working adults living close to the poverty line and struggling to support their families. Work requirements would create barriers to health coverage that would jeopardize vulnerable Oregonians and add administrative complexity and costs for states.
