HERC Information

The Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC) shall:
  • Develop and maintain a list of health services ranked by priority, from the most important to the least important, representing the comparative benefits of each service to the population to be served
  • Develop or identify and shall disseminate evidence-based health care guidelines for use by providers, consumers and purchasers of health care in Oregon
  • Conduct comparative effectiveness research of health technologies

Agenda

The Health Evidence Review Commission’s work group on cancer treatments near the end of life will meet June 18th. The purpose of this workgroup is to consider revisions to guideline note 12 on the Prioritized List of Health Services, in order to better align with provisions of Affordable Care Act which take effect January 1, 2014.

    (FAI) Surgery
2) Initial review of draft coverage guidances on:
    a. Upper Endoscopy for GERD
    b. Use of DEXA in screening for and monitoring of osteoporosis

Coverage Guidance Current Topics

Coverage Guidance Topics Currently Under Development
The following link provides the list of topics that are currently undergoing the coverage guidance development process, including their current status and the earliest date at which they could be considered by the Health Evidence Review Commission for final approval.  Where available, links to publicly available evidence reports from trusted sources on which a coverage guidance is being based are provided.  When evidence reports from trusted sources are proprietary, summaries of those reports, along with citations of evidence referenced in the report, will be provided prior to the topic’s initial discussion by either the Evidence-based Guidelines Subcommittee or Health Technology Assessment Subcommittee.
