Lane County passes healthy food procurement policy

Deschutes County survey shows support for tobacco-free policy
no smoking

January 2012 -- More than 800 people completed a survey fielded by Deschutes County Health Services to determine the level of support for establishing a 100% tobacco-free policy at some or all of Deschutes County properties. 84 percent of survey respondents were in favor of 100% tobacco-free county properties.

Coos County holds successful Worksite Wellness Action Forum

January 2012 -- Participants representing 35 local agencies and businesses attended the second annual Healthy Communities forum to develop action plans to support and encourage employees to live happier, healthier and more productive lives.

Supporting materials include a summary of the event , the agenda , an action planning worksheet , a gallery guide , and resource book .

Community fitness program launches in Pendleton

January 2012 -- Healthy Pendleton is a free citywide exercise effort designed to build community fitness and thwart disease.  The program kicked off January 2nd.  Participants can join and begin tracking their activities immediately.  Read more in the East Oregonian

New walking trail opens in Clatskanie

September 2011 -- The Columbia Health Coalition helps Clatskanie Elementary School Parents Supporting Education Association open a new walking trail for students and their families. The trail is also open to the community. Read more in The Chronicle

Deschutes County Wellness Initiative launches Farm to Work program

Summer 2011 -- You know the old saying, “You Are What You Eat,”… Deschutes County’s Wellness Initiative is making it easier to eat healthy with the Farm to Work Program. Eating an abundance of fruits and vegetables is one of the most positive health habits adults and children can have. This summer, an expanded partnership between Deschutes County and local farmers is now making fresh produce delivery available to all County employees at two different locations and days.
