Are you interested in getting involved with state service but unsure where to begin? Consider serving on one of Health Licensing Office's regulatory boards. You don't have to be a member of one of the regulated professions to serve. In fact, many of the openings are for public members. A public member is typically someone who represents a consumer's point of view (and has no conflicts of interest in the board's business). Serving on a volunteer citizen board is a great way to dip a toe into the waters of state service. Board members participate in the rulemaking process, helping enact the laws adopted by the legislature and getting a better sense of how government works on the state level. The Health Licensing Office has moved to a new location in Salem: 1430 Tandem Ave., Suite 180, Salem, OR 97301. Please do not go to the Veterans Building looking for us. We're in our own space, with plenty of free parking, off Cherry Avenue now.
Update: Google Maps now recognizes our new location.
Please be aware, HLO will be closed to the public on the following dates for holidays and our office relocation: Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Feb. 10-13 for our move to a new location in Salem; Monday, February 20, 2017, for Presidents Day. The Health Licensing Office filed proposed administrative rules for the Advisory Council on Hearing Aids. The proposed administrative rules were filed with the Secretary of State and were published in the Nov. 1, 2016, edition of the Oregon Bulletin. The public comment period has been extended. You are invited to review the proposed rules and offer comments in writing by noon on Dec. 29, 2016. (Click the headline to read more)
Mark your calendar: The Health Licensing Office will be closed the following days due to state holidays: Friday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day; Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving; and Monday, Dec. 26 for Christmas.
The Health Licensing Office administers a final practical exam for individuals seeking licensure as hearing aid specialists. The exam is administered quarterly at the Red Lion Hotel in Salem, Oregon. The 2017 exam dates are:
Jan. 12, 2017 (apply by Dec. 12, 2016)
April 6, 2017 (apply by March 6, 2017)
July 20, 2017 (apply by June 20, 2017)
Oct. 5, 2017 (apply by Sept. 5, 2017)
