How to create maps, graphs and reports from the portal

The data available in the portal are organized according to category, topic area, indicator and measure. The categories break information into three broad areas: Environmental Justice, Environmental Quality and Health Outcomes. Topic areas are further divided into categories, such as "Air" and "Water" in the Environmental Quality category or "Chronic Conditions" in the "Health Outcomes" category. To view data, create a report, access maps, graphs and more, follow these steps:

  1. Go directly to the portal and use the query tool.
  2. Select a category, a topic, an indicator, and a geography level.
  3. Click "View Report".
You may now further explore your query by selecting various measures from the drop down menus above the map. Click "Apply" to view new selections.
  4. A map, graph, or table can be generated by clicking on each corresponding tab. Pdfs can also be downloaded by clicking the "Download PDF" link in the right hand corner of the main display box. Tables can also be exported as CSV files.
  5. The right hand panel provides information about the measures and data sources. Click the "more" tabs to view all the text.
