Transitioning adult mental health residential treatment services into coordinated care

For the past four years, the state, coordinated care organizations, providers, stakeholders and individuals have been working to transform our health care delivery system.

An important next step in expanding the coordinated care model in Oregon is continuing the integration of behavioral and physical health by transitioning adult mental health residential treatment services into coordinated care.

Status of the Transition Project

Building upon previous statewide efforts and thoughtful stakeholder engagement, the Oregon Health Authority has coordinated several staff workgroups to meet the overall goal of successfully transitioning adult mental health residential treatment into coordinated care in July 2017.

Operating across Medical Assistance Programs, Addictions and Mental Health, and other agency divisions, the Adult Mental Health Residential Transition Project includes highly focused workgroups dedicated to every step of the transition. The key areas include:

  • Fee-for-service and CCO rate methodology;
  • AMH Residential and CCO contracting;
  • Revising Oregon Administrative Rules and policy;
  • Data, reporting and compliance;
  • Assessment, and others.

More about residential treatment

OHA is committed to providing Oregonians the right service at the right time, in the right setting for the appropriate length of time.

For individuals experiencing mental illness, residential treatment helps promote and enhance skills needed to lead independent healthy lives.

Residential treatment offers support, stability, and rehabilitative care for individuals in homelike settings, fostering paths to more independence in their own communities.

Integrating adult mental health residential treatment services into CCOs promotes collaborative care that is focused on the whole individual.
