Gone are the steam kettles as big as an eight-person hot tub and a pot washing machine that six people could stand in. The hospital’s new 17,000 square-foot kitchen features an open landscape with gleaning stainless steel walls, appliances and countertops. Everything is streamlined and designed for efficiency. The kitchen is set up to follow the natural progression of food preparation, cooking, food delivery and clean up. And while the bright, easily maintained surface of stainless steel provides a modern and attractive appearance, the easy cleaning ability of stainless makes it the first choice for strict hygiene conditions, such as hospitals, kitchens, abattoirs and other food processing plants. When the total life cycle costs are considered, stainless is often the least expensive material option.
