The Oregon Health Authority Foodborne Illness Prevention Program works in partnership with local health departments, the food service industry and the public to reduce or eliminate the known causes of foodborne illness. The program provides technical assistance, training and education, coordinates rulemaking, supports the statewide licensing and inspection system and oversees the Food Handler Card program. Go to our Food Sanitation Rules webpage for fact sheets and more information.
September is Food Safety Month
National Food Safety Month was created in 1994 to heighten the awareness of food safety education. Each year has a new theme and free training activities and posters for the restaurant and foodservice industry to help reinforce proper food safety practices and procedures.
Visit the national ServSafe page to learn more about Food Safety Culture in your facility and to download four posters to use in your establishment to highlight a different topic for each week of food safety month.
