Oregon 10-year plans to end homelessness
 
 
Oregon’s first local 10-year plan to end homelessness was adopted by Multnomah County in 2005.  Since then, community leaders and housing advocates in urban, suburban and rural communities have developed and launched their plans to coordinate and their ending homelessness activities.  By 2010, thirteen counties have adopted plans, and several more are underway.
 
In 2008, A Home for Hope: Oregon’s 10-year plan to end homelessness was adopted by Governor Ted Kulongoski as the roadmap for the state’s policy and program implementation to end homelessness in Oregon.
 
In 2009, Status Report: Year One of the 10-year plan to end homelessness was issued to measure the accomplishments of the first year of the state’s plan. Among the accomplishments were:
  • Creation of more than 200 units of permanent supportive housing
  • Preservation of subsidized housing for very low-income households
  • Secure additional funding for housing and services
  • Passage of state’s first policy on homelessness
