What is a White Garden Snail?
white garden snail
The white garden snail is native to southwestern England, Wales, Ireland, western France, Switzerland, and the Mediterranean countries of Europe and Africa. It is the worst potential agriculture pest of the helicid snails introduced to North America.  It can climb easily and survives oceanic journeys in freight cars because it surrounds itself in mucus to prevent dehydration.  Once established, it can be found in densities of up to 3,000 snails per tree, and causes severe defoliation of plants, particularly citrus and ornamental plants.
