RALPH A. YATES, DO - Portland
 
Dr. Yates is a family physician and founder of Columbia Family Medical Associates, P.C. in Portland, an independent primary group. He also serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Oregon Health Science University. Dr. Yates has an active sports medicine practice involving the management of competitive and recreational athletes. He is the team physician for the Portland Winterhawks of the Canadian Hockey League, and for the University of Portland athletics program.
 
He has a personal interest in asthma, diabetes and osteoporosis.  Dr. Yates has given over 200 presentations to medical professionals. He is Vice Chair for the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation and received their Award for Outstanding Community Service in 2000. Dr. Yates is also the founder of Summit to Surf, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight diabetes. A chronic asthmatic, he has successfully raced in seven Ironman competitions. 
 
Dr. Yates attended the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut where he received his Bachelors of Science degree.  He completed medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri.  Dr. Yates completed internship at Eastmoreland Hospital in Portland Oregon.
