DONALD E. GIRARD, MD - Portland Dr. Girard is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Graduate and Continuing Medical Education at OHSU's School of Medicine. He has served on the OHSU faculty since 1975 and is engaged in patient care, teaching and academic pursuits. Dr. Girard has also participated in professional organizations at the state and national levels. Dr. Girard is past president of the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland, and is a past member of the Oregon Medical Association Executive Committee. He served four years as governor of the American College of Physicians' Oregon Chapter, and has participated in the College nationally. He is also president the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, and has been active in the Association of American Medical Colleges. Outside the medical field, Dr. Girard is an enthusiastic cyclist, and collector of antiquarian medical books. Dr. Girard attended Pomona College in Claremont, California, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, before completing internship at Harborview-King County Hospital in Seattle, Washington, and residency at University of Texas, Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas and University of Oregon Medical School.
