The Role of the SACHP

The State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) is a nine-member group that reviews nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. The members are professionally recognized in the fields of history, architecture, archaeology, and other related disciplines. The committee holds public meetings in February, June, and October each year at different locations within the state.

Commenting on National Register Nominations
Any individual, government entity, or organization may comment on pending National Register nominations scheduled for an upcoming meeting of the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation or under final consideration by the National Park Service (NPS) by sending written comments to:

The comment period for each nomination is based on submission, hearing, and mailing dates, which are variable. Please contact the office directly at (503) 986-0690 or tracy.zeller@oregon.gov concerning deadlines for submitting comments. If you are a property owner and you object to listing your property in the National Register, please contact the office first before submitting comments to obtain an official objection form.

All comments received by the office are retained as part of the agency’s permanent public record and forwarded to the National Park Service for final consideration.
