Aug. 18, 2015 update

Salem OR - State Park campfire restrictions are in place in the Columbia Gorge, middle and southern portions of the Willamette Valley, on southern Oregon coastal beaches, and a few locations east of the Cascades.

Columbia Gorge
Where: Ainsworth, Viento, Memaloose, Deschutes River State Recreation Area and all day-use parks.
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes (Deschutes River allows briquettes in campground fire rings). Gas stoves OK.

Willamette Valley
Where: Detroit Lake, Mongold, Cascadia, Elijah Bristow, Lowell, Jasper, and all parks around Fall Creek Reservoir.
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves OK.

Where: North Santiam
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves and lanterns OK.

Where: L.L. Stub Stewart (Aug. 18-20)
What: No campfires. Cooking stoves/charcoal briquettes allowed.

Where: Silver Falls State Park (Aug. 18-23)
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas Stoves OK.

Where: Milo McIver
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas Stoves OK.


East of the Cascades (expect smoke -- at times heavy-- at any or all of these locations depending on wind conditions)
Where: Remote camping locations around Prineville Reservoir (developed campgrounds at Prineville State Park and Jasper Point not restricted).
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves OK.

Where: Cottonwood Canyon.
What: No campfires. Charcoal briquettes and gas stoves OK in campground, gas stoves only outside of campground.

Where: Succor Creek State Natural Area
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Possible drifting smoke from the Soda Fire.

Where: Minan
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves OK.

Central Coast
Where: Carl G. Washburne
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves OK.

Southern Oregon Coastal Beaches
Where: All beaches and state park day-use sites from Coos Bay south to the California border. Developed campgrounds not restricted.
What: No fires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves OK.

Where: Jessie Honeyman (includes the beach)
What: No campfires or charcoal briquettes. Gas stoves OK.

Even where fires are allowed, visitors need to exercise caution. Build fires only in fire rings. Attend all fires. Don't build them larger than necessary. Keep a bucket of water and shovel nearby, and douse thoroughly when finished. Smoking is not permitted in state parks except in personal vehicles and designated campsites.
