Salem, OR - The Oregon Recreation Trails Advisory Council is now seeking nominations for the annual Doug Newman Recreation Trails Achievement Award. Named after the late Doug Newman, a former Council member, the award honors those who have made a significant contribution to the planning, design, development, or maintenance of non-motorized recreation trails in the state.
Nominations for this year's award are being solicited from non-motorized trail organizations, government agencies, and the general public. All nomination letters must be submitted by May 15 to Rocky Houston, State Trails Coordinator for the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Nominations should demonstrate how the candidate or candidates' accomplishments have benefited or will benefit a large number and variety of trail users; explain the scope of their impact locally, regionally, or statewide; and describe how they are an inspiration to others.
