Campfires allowed in most Oregon State Parks

Sept. 18, 2015

This week's cooler weather and late summer rains have helped ease the wildfire danger. Campfires in designated fire rings are now allowed in all but a few Oregon State Park campgrounds and day-use areas. Recreational beach fires are also allowed from the Columbia River south to Coos Bay.

Fires are still banned on the open beach from Coos Bay south to the California border.

The campfire ban remains in place at:

* The Cove Palisades (ban will be lifted when conditions improve)
* Cottonwood Canyon State Park (seasonal ban lifted when conditions improve)
* Deschutes River State Recreation Area (seasonal ban lifted when conditions improve)
* Succor Creek State Natural Area (ban will be lifted when conditions improve)
* Government Island State Recreation Area (ban will be lifted when conditions improve)

Visitors should remember to be extremely careful with any fire in areas where the ban has been removed. Conditions and restrictions could change with very little notice.
